What is Search Engine and it's importance?

     Welcome to my Blog post. In this Blog, I will tell you about:

       Search is all about making connections:
  • Objective of any Search Engine- Users who are looking for information, products or services online, Search Engine helps such users find any information, quickly and accurately. For eg- Google.
  • Google's main purpose is to understand what we want and serve them as a search result or you can say it is something which answers all the questions of users, looking for information, products or services.
  • Search connects consumers to the information that they are looking for, want or care about. Search connects marketers to the customers they care about.

      Important Search Statistics:

  • More than half of the total world's population searches everyday (i.e. more than 4 billion people out of the total world population of 7 billion searches every single day).
  • Majority of these searches happens on Google and has a global market share of 90%. India's market share of Google is one of the largest in the world i.e. 93%, market share of UK is 82% and interestingly the market share of US is one of the lowest in the world i.e. 78% .
  • The other Search Engines that are in the market are like Bing from Microsoft, Yahoo i.e. one of the oldest, Yandex i.e. the market leader in Russia, Baidu i.e. the market leader of China, etc.

      Search Engine acts as a hub for all media:

Everyday whether through social media , ads on desktop or mobile or any website, the reviews or the videos we are watching, etc., we are getting exposed to a lot of information and a lot of this end up going to Google and search for what we have seen, so Google search actually acts as a hub for all media. In a developed country like US, it has been seen that 93% of the buyers research online before making a purchase.

So the bottomline is around 35% of the website's traffic comes from Google search, specially the websites which are established since a long time. The traffic is incremently free, so once you are on Google search, you don't have to pay anything to anyone, and just have to do the good SEO work. Secondly, the traffic from google search is consistent so it will come without paying anything to anyone, so search plays a very significant role in any online business.
